Adult Pottery Classes 2024
The pottery classes run for three terms during the year in Spring, Summer and Autumn and last 8 weeks with raku session at the end of the summer term and a winter feast at the end of the Autumn term.  There is a free extra catch up session on a Saturday morning at the end of each term for any student that has missed a class. The classes are on Wednesday afternoons from 1.00 to 3.00 pm and evenings from 7.00 to 9.00 pm and there are 15 students per class.  Classes cost £90.00 for an eight week term and a charge for finished work (approximately £5- £25 for three pieces.)  Students are able to secure their place for the following term half way through the term they are on.  As a result most places are taken up, so the only way to join is to put yourself on the waiting lists.

To join the group classes please follow the instructions below.  This page also contains information on the workshops and links at the bottom of the page to a Frequently Asked Question section and other events.

For any other animal please print out as many images of your chosen animal from sources like google images. Please note, we do have a good library of animal books, but your one may not be featured. It takes a lot of time out of our teaching schedule if we have to print lots of images from the computer. We do have a wifi connection, so you are welcome to use mobile phones, laptop and ipads. COMPLETION AND WHAT IS EXTRA
At the end of the session, once your piece is completed, it will need to dry out for about 2 – 3 weeks before going in to a bisque firing.  You now have three options to finish your work, either by attending the glaze class three weeks after the making session, request that we glaze your piece or create your own finish.

Once your work is finished we will contact you to arrange collection, which usually takes about 4 – 8 weeks.

The Summer term theme involves creating a piece for the raku firing.
GRASS HOPPER   We operate a "grass hopper" system, whereby if you miss a class, you have the option to" jump" on to another session in the following weeks to catch up. In this way you will not loss any money due to holidays or illness. This system only works if you inform us of any sessions you are going to miss, so that we can offer them to another student waiting for a space.  Unfortunately we can not operate the grass hopper system during the pandemic, but you are welcome to take clay home to complete work. You can also take advantage of the free sessions that we run during the year and use it as a catch up session for any missed classes.
RAKU   The Summer Barbeque Raku session is a popular event, which includes lots of food and flames.  You can see images of this event and pictures of the class work by clicking on the link at the bottom.
WINTER FEAST   In Mid November when the classes have finished we organise an optional get-together where we eat, drink and merrily announce the winners of the Project Competition.
