Maggie and Tracy jointly run a series of group half and full day pottery workshops during February with an optional glaze session in March at their Zoo Ceramics studio in Waddington Lincolnshire. The courses are suitable for beginners and experienced artists from ages 15 and above.
There is a choice of three making workshops to create either a small, medium or large animal sculpture, with a further option to make a coil vessel on the medium sized project if you do not desire to work on the animal theme.
The full day large scale workshop on 9th February runs from 9.30 in the morning through to 4.30 in the afternoon and you are welcome to either bring a lunch with you, or to eat out. We do provide light refreshments throughout the workshops. The small and medium workshops on the 16th February are run in the morning and afternoon, so you are welcome to book both classes and have an extended day.
The glazing workshop in March is 3 or 4 weeks after the workshops in Febraury. This is to allow the work to dry out and go through a bisque firing. Once the piece is bisque fired you now have three options on how to finish your work. |

PLEASE BRING WITH YOU
• IMPORTANT. Please bring with you good images of the animal design you are going to create; especially if it is a pet. Take a series of photographs at eye level from the front, back and sides and the top and some detailed shots of the head. For any other animal please print out as many images of your chosen animal from sources like google images. Please note, we do have a good library of animal books, but your one may not be featured. It takes a lot of time out of our teaching schedule if we have to print lots of images from the computer. We do have a wifi connection, so you are welcome to use mobile phones, laptop and ipads. However please be aware that clay is wet and dusty and could cause damage to your equipment and we take no responsibility if this occurs.
• Sketch book
• Camera
• Overall, but we have lots of spare ones if you forget.
• Lunch if staying for double classes or the full day of the sculpture workshop.
COMPLETION AND WHAT IS EXTRA
At the end of the session, once your piece is completed, it will need to dry out for about 2 – 3 weeks before going in to a bisque firing. You now have there options to finish your work, by either painting, glazing by us, or attending the glaze class to coincide with this making workshop in March.
Once your work is finished we will contact you to arrange collection, which usually takes about 4 – 8 weeks.
For any other questions you may have, please refer to the FAQ link at the bottom of the page.
